We are "Ipas"

IPAS is a group of young people from Germany studying in Landau. "Ipas" is short for "Integratives Projekt ausländischer Studierender in Landau" ("Integrative project for foreign students at the University of Landau"). It was founded in 2002 as a project by students, for students from all over the world. Most of us have also been to other countries and know how difficult it can be to get involved in the life there. That is why we want to make a little contribution by helping you to get organized and integrated more easily and by creating a space where you can get to know Landau, the University and of course the life and people here.  

Our Goals:

• To support the international students through a mentor program which helps them organize university matters and everyday life

• To create a space in which German and international students can meet and get to know each other

• To give the international students opportunities to explore Landau, its surroundings and other parts of Germany

What we offer:

• A mentor-program for the international students
  

        Diverse activities:

• Hiking and sports in the „Palatinate Forest“

• International Evenings

• Wine tasting, barbecues and welcome-parties  

• Trips around Landau and to cities and nice places in Germany

• Intercultural workshops, such as an orientation workshop at the beginning of the semester
  

• Visiting local cultural events etc.

IPAS Program for summer term 2008

April

Wednesday, 23rd april: IPAS-PARTY. Location: Freiraum, 22h. Entrance: free for Erasmus Students, everyone else: 2,5€. Tequila 1€ until midnight.  Sparkling wine 1€ and beer 1,5€ all night long!

May

Monday, 5th may: Visit the “Maimarkt”.  Afterwards we will watch the fireworks together. Meeting-point: Pedestrian traffic light at the “Alter Messplatz”

Tuesday, 6th may: International evening at the ESG.

Thursday, 22nd may: Hike in the “Pfälzer Wald”. You should not miss the opportunity to see a typical German forest in spring! Information about the meeting-point and time will be provided by email from Nicole.

Wednesday, 28th may: Wine-tasting in Landau-Nussdorf. Taste the newest wines from 2007 directly at a cool winemaker´s house next to his vineyard. Meeting-point: 19.30h  in front of the “Sparkasse” in the Market Square. Erasmus pay 3€, IPAS 5€. More information will be provided by email from Chris.

June

Sunday, 1st june: Climbing in the “Pfälzer Wald”. If you like adventurous trips, you have to join this one J! More information from our trained climbing-instructor: Chris.

Sat./sun., 7th/8th june: Weekend-trip to Frankfurt. We have planned a guided tour, a view from the top of a skyline-tower, a visit to the Goethe-house and a good party…Meeting-point: Landau Train station, in the morning. Costs: Erasmus & IPAS 25€. More information on the special flyer and by email from Jenny & Anna. 

Friday, 20th june: Trip to Karlsruhe. We will visit the ZKM (centre for art and media), the palace and maybe the zoo or another museum. Meeting-point: Landau Train station, in the morning (if there are problems with some of your courses, we try to handle these). More information from Christoph (email).

July

Wednesday, 9th july: Farewell-barbecue at Jenny´s house. We do not hope to see you for the last time, still we hope to see you there J. We will meet in the evening and well let you know how to get there.
